தஞ்சை மாவட்டம். கும்பகோணம் தாலுக்கா நாச்சியார்கோவிலைச் சேர்ந்தவர் பா.தா. என அழைக்கப்படும் பா. தாவூத்ஷா. பிறந்தது 1885ஆம் ஆண்டு. தமிழக முஸ்லிம்களிடம் கல்வியறிவு மிகவும் குறைந்திருந்த காலத்திலேயே B.A. பட்டம் படித்துத் தேறியவர் பா.தா. மதுரைத் தமிழ்ச் சங்கம் நடத்திய தேர்வில் முதலிடத்தில் தேறித் தங்கப் பதக்கம் பரிசு பெற்ற இவருக்கு ஆங்கிலத்திலும், தமிழிலும் ஆற்றல் நிறைந்திருந்தது.

சப் மாஜிஸ்திரேட்டாக அரசுப் பணி புரிந்துகொண்டிருந்த பா.தா., கிலாபத் புரட்சியின் போது, 1921-இல் தமது பதவியை ராஜினாமாச் செய்து விட்டு, மார்க்கச் சேவையே தமது வாழ்க்கை என நிர்ணயித்துக் கொண்டார். 1919-இல் துவங்கிய அவரது இஸ்லாமிய ஊழியம் தாருல் இஸ்லாம் எனும் மாத இதழாய்ப் பரிணமித்து, பின்னர் அது மாதமிருமுறை இதழாகி, வார இதழாகி, வாரமிருமுறை இதழாகி, நாளிதழாகி ஏறக்குறைய 40 வருடங்கள் இஸ்லாமிய இதழ்களுள் மிகச் சிறப்பான ஒன்றாகக் கொடிகட்டிப் பறந்தது.

குர்ஆனைத் தமிழ் மக்கள் தெள்ளு தமிழில் முறையாய்ப் பொருளுணர்ந்து கற்க வேண்டும் என்ற ஆர்வத்தால் தமிழிலேயே முதன் முறையாய் ”குர்ஆன் மஜீத்” பொருளுரையும் விரிவுரையும் எழுத ஆரம்பித்தார். தூய தமிழில், நாயகம் (ஸல்) அவர்களின் ஆதாரப்பூர்வ வரலாற்றை நாயக மாண்மியம் என எழுதி வெளியிட்டார். முதல் நான்கு கலீபாக்களின் வரலாற்றை ”குலபாஎ ராஷீதீன்” என நான்கு புத்தகத் தொகுப்பாய் எழுதி வெளியிட்டார். முதன் முதலாய் சஹீஹ் புகாரியிலிருந்து குறிப்பிட்ட ஹதீத்களை தமிழில் மொழிபெயர்த்து எழுதினார். இப்படியாக ஏறக்குறைய 100 புத்தகங்கள், பற்பல கட்டுரைகள் தமிழ் மொழியில் எழுதியுள்ளார்.

1969ஆம் ஆண்டு, பிப்ரவரி 24ந் தேதி தமது 84ஆவது வயதில் சென்னையில் மரணமடைந்தார்.

B. Dawood Shah, a native of Natchiarkoil in Kumbakonam Taluk, Thanjavur district, was born in 1885. At a time when literacy among Tamil Nadu’s Muslim community was very low, he earned a B.A. degree. Excelling in both Tamil and English, he won a gold medal for securing the top rank in an examination conducted by the Madurai Tamil Sangam.

B. Dawood Shah served as a Sub-Magistrate in the government service. During the Khilafat movement in 1921, he resigned from his position, dedicating his life to Islamic service. His Islamic endeavors, which began in 1919, eventually took the form of a monthly magazine named ‘Darul Islam’. Over time, it evolved into a bi-monthly, then a weekly, and later a bi-weekly publication, and finally, a daily newspaper. For nearly 40 years, it stood as one of the most prominent Islamic publications.

Driven by the desire to enable Tamil-speaking people to understand the Quran in clear Tamil, B. Dawood Shah undertook the task of writing a detailed and systematic Tamil translation and commentary of the Quran, titled ‘Quran Majeed’. He also authored ‘Nayaga Manmiyam’, a biographical account of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in pure Tamil. He chronicled the histories of the first four caliphs in a four-volume series titled ‘Kulafaa-e-Rashideen’. Moreover, he was the first to translate select hadiths from ‘Sahih Bukhari’ into Tamil. In total, he authored around 100 books and numerous articles in Tamil.

B. Dawood Shah passed away in Chennai on February 24, 1969, at the age of 84.

பா. தாவூத்ஷா மைமூன்பீ தம்பதியருக்கு, 1919ஆம் ஆண்டு, ஆகஸ்ட் 16ஆம் தேதி நாச்சியார்கோவிலில் பிறந்தவர் N.B. அப்துல் ஜப்பார். 1941 இல் சென்னை மாநிலக் கல்லூரியில் பி.ஏ. மாணவராக இருந்தபோதும், அதற்குமுன் கிறிஸ்துவக் கல்லூரியில் பயின்ற காலத்திலேயும் தமிழ்மொழிப் புலமைக்கான பரிசுகளைப் பெற்றார். பள்ளி மாணவப் பருவத்திலேயே ‘தாருல் இஸ்லாம்’ இதழில் எழுதத் தொடங்கினார். 1940 இல் ஒரு சிறுகதைப் போட்டியில் பரிசு பெற்றுள்ளார்.

‘என்.பி.ஏ.’ என்று அன்புடன் அழைக்கப்பட்டு வந்த அவர், சிறுகதை எழுத்தாளர், நாவலாசிரியர், துணிச்சலான பத்திரிகை ஆசிரியர், நூல் ஆசிரியர், பதிப்பாசிரியர், விமர்சகர் என்ற பல சிறப்புகளுக்குரியவராகத் திகழ்ந்தார். தம் தந்தையாரின் ‘தாருல் இஸ்லாம்’ மாத இதழின் பொறுப்பாசிரியராகப் பணிபுரிந்து சிறுகதைகளையும், கட்டுரைகளையும், விமர்சனங்களையும் ஏராளமாக எழுதிக் குவித்தவர், என்.பி.ஏ. தந்தையாருடன் திருக்குர்ஆன் விரிவுரை எழுதி வெளியிடும் பணியையும் தொடர்ந்து மேற்கொண்டார். நபிகள் நாயகம் (ஸல்) அவர்களின் வரலாற்றையும் சிறப்பாக எழுதி வெளியிட்டார்.

என்.பி.ஏ. அவர்களின் இலக்கிய சாதனைக்குச் சிகரமாக அமைந்தது மிகப் பெரும் சரித்திர நாவலான ஷஜருத்தூர். 1948ஆம் ஆண்டு ஆயிரத்துக்கும் அதிகமான பக்கங்களில் அவர் எழுதிய ஷஜருத்தூர் இஸ்லாமியத் தமிழ் நாவல் இலக்கியத்தில் ஒரு முக்கியத் திருப்புமுனையாகத் திகழ்கிறது. தந்தையார் பா.தாவூத்ஷா வழியில் இதழியல், பதிப்பியல் பணியில் இறுதிவரை ஈடுபட்டிருந்தார் என்.பி.ஏ.

1995ஆம் ஆண்டு, ஆகஸ்ட் 26ஆம் தேதி தமது 76ஆவது வயதில் சென்னையில் மரணமடைந்தார்.

N.B. Abdul Jabbar was born on August 16, 1919, in Natchiarkoil to B. Dawood Shah and Maimoon Bee. While studying for his B.A. at Madras Christian College in 1941, and earlier during his time at Presidency College, he won awards for his proficiency in Tamil. As a school student, he began contributing to the ‘Darul Islam’ magazine. In 1940, he won a prize in a short story competition.

Affectionately known as “N.B.A.,” he was a distinguished short story writer, novelist, bold journalist, editor, publisher, and critic. Serving as the editor of his father’s ‘Darul Islam’ monthly magazine, N.B.A. produced numerous short stories, essays, and critiques. He also continued his father’s work on translating and interpreting the Quran and wrote extensively about the life of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

N.B.A.’s literary pinnacle was his monumental historical novel ‘Shajaratur’. In 1948, the Shajarat-ul-Tur novel he authored, spanning over a thousand pages, marked a significant turning point in Islamic Tamil literature. He followed in his father’s footsteps in journalism and publishing, dedicating himself to these pursuits until the end of his life.

N.B.A. passed away in Chennai on August 26, 1995, at the age of 76.

N.B. அப்துல் ஜப்பார், பல்கீஸ்பீ தம்பதியருக்கு, 1965ஆம் ஆண்டு பிறந்தவர் நூருத்தீன் அஹ்மத். சென்னை புதுக் கல்லூரியில் பி.ஏ. பட்டமும் கணினி மென்பொருள் துறையில் பட்டச் சான்றிதழும் பெற்று, அமெரிக்காவிலுள்ள ஸியாட்டில் நகரில் மென்பொருள் வல்லுநராகப் பணியாற்றி வருகிறார்.

ஆனந்த விகடன், முஸ்லிம் முரசு, சமரசம் ஆகிய பத்திரிகைகளில் சிறுகதைகள், கட்டுரைகள் எழுதியதில் இவரது எழுத்தார்வம் துவங்கியது. சத்தியமார்க்கம்.காம் எனும் இணைய இதழில் சஹாபாக்களின் வாழ்க்கை வரலாற்றை ‘தோழர்கள்’, ‘தோழியர்’ எனும் தலைப்புகளில் தொடராக எழுதியிருக்கிறார். இந்நேரம்.காம் எனும் தமிழ் இணையச் செய்தித் தளத்தில் ‘மனம் மகிழுங்கள்’ என்ற உளவியல் தொடர் வெளியானது. அவையனைத்தும் வாசகர் மத்தியில் வரவேற்பைப் பெற்றுள்ளன. தொடர்ந்து பல்வேறு பத்திரிகைகளில் இணைய இதழ்களில் எழுதி வருகிறார்.

இவருடைய பல நூல்கள் அச்சிலும் கிண்டிலிலும் வெளிவந்துள்ளன.

Nooruddin Ahmed, born in 1965 to N.B. Abdul Jabbar and Balkees Bee, holds a B.A. degree from New College, Chennai, and a professional certification in computer software. He currently works as a software professional in Seattle, USA.

His passion for writing began with publishing short stories and essays in magazines like Ananda Vikatan, Muslim Murasu, and Samarasam. He has written a series on the life histories of the Sahabah (companions of the Prophet) titled ‘Thozhargal’ (Companions) and ‘Thozhiyar’ (Female Companions) on the online magazine Satyamargam.com. Additionally, a psychological series titled ‘Manam Magizhunthal’ was published on the Tamil online news platform Inneram.com. All these works have been well-received by readers. He continues to write for various magazines and online publications.

Many of his books have been published both in print and on Kindle.
